Against an elaborate backdrop resembling a Greek temple, Barack Obama delivered his acceptance speech. An audience of about 84,000 people in the stadium and 40 million TV viewers witnessed this extraordinary event. So what could be a better tribute to Obama than this commemorative coin that marks the occasion that has now become a defining moment in history for millions of people everywhere.

The coin below shows a stunning profile portrayal of Barack Obama designed in the bold, beautiful Hellenistic style of an Ancient Greek coin. Although the coin honors Obama’s nomination, it is also intended as a cultural outreach gesture from Greece to all those who support Obama in the U.S. and abroad.

The face of the coin shows Obama wearing the headdress of the legendary lion-skin cape that protected the mighty Hercules from his enemies. The cape has come to symbolize invulnerability, courage and winning against all odds!

This mantle now passes on to Obama who is facing many obstacles and challenges on his way to the White House. Indeed, he will need the skills, talents and invincibility of a Hercules to emerge as the undefeated courageous champion who, like Hercules, is extremely successful at overcoming his opponents when they would least expect him to win.

The reverse side of this distinctive coin has the inscription “Barack Obama U.S. Presidential Candidate 2008″ engraved in the center. It is encircled with the motto “Yes We Can” in five languages: English, Spanish, Greek, German and French.

This phrase has become the rallying cry that still fascinates a broad public far and wide. And it is this message that will remain in the hearts and imagination of “We the People” who believe that Obama will succeed in finding new ways to get on with the work that the people want him to do. With our support and financial backing, he will continue to defy the odds and emerge victorious as our president, the people’s president.

So let’s get with it everybody! Wake up those sleepers; spread Obama’s  political, social and economic message! Let’s do more than put some cracks in a glass ceiling. Let’s bring down the house. Let’s stand together to elect Barack Obama the next President of the United States of America.

You can buy Barackos as coins or medallions. They are more than just a souvenir or keepsake. We produced a limited number of less than 800 pieces, thus they should be seen as collector’s items guaranteed to increase in value. And just like the Ancient Greek coins before them, the Baracko will be passed down from generation to generation keeping this defining moment in our history alive for years to come.
